Qualified Drive

Competitors are given six balls in 2 minutes and 30 seconds to try and achieve the longest possible drive. A “qualified drive” must land and come to rest within the grid boundaries. Minimum yardage for qualification is 300 yards (Open/Men’s Division); 250 yards (Masters/age 45+ Division); and 200 yards (Women’s Division).

Qualified drives must meet the following requirements:

  • A hitter's ball must come to rest within the designated boundaries of the competition grid.
  • A hitter’s ball touching any part of the competition grid boundary is considered "in play".
  • A hitter’s ball coming into contact with any obstruction or surface outside the competition grid will not be considered a qualified drive, regardless if the ball comes back into the boundary.

Play Format

PRELIMINARY & FINAL QUALIFYING

The Open (Men’s) Division will stage preliminary and final qualifying at select Tour stops, providing the opportunity for interested hitters to pay an entry fee for a chance to qualify for the World Long Drive Championship. 16 hitters will advance from preliminary qualifying to take part in final qualifying, with the top-three finishers advancing to the World Championship.

TOUR EVENT – OPEN DIVISION

  • 54 hitters are divided into six groups of 9 (based on world rankings), with each competitor hitting four sets of six balls in 2 minutes 30 seconds, with the top-five from each group advancing to Round 2 (30 total). Additionally, the sixth place finisher in each group advances to a “Shootout” round, with the top-two advancing to fill out the 32 men advancing to Round 2.
  • The 32 hitters are divided into two groups of 16 (based on world rankings) to compete in five sets of six balls in 2 minutes 30 seconds, with the top-eight from each group advancing to the Round of 16.
  • The Round of 16 (seeded based on world rankings) consists of five sets of six balls in 2 minutes 30 seconds, with the top-eight point earners advancing to the Quarterfinals.
  • All subsequent rounds (seeded based on point totals from Round of 16): Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Finals, are staged as head-to-head matches, with the longest qualified drive (six balls, 2 minutes 30 seconds) determining who advances, until a winner is crowned.
