The field of four is set in the Women’s Division at the ROC City Rumble and will begin live on Golf Channel at 6 p.m. ET.
Making the semifinals and TV for a second straight event, is Mary Driscol, who finished in sixth with 550 points.
“I was actually thinking about that on the flight here. I was having a conversation with my friends and said, ‘ I wonder what it’s like to go back to back on TV?’,” Driscol said. “I’ve never done that and a few of the girls do that all the time. I thought that would be really cool. I mean, now I’ve done it, and, yeah, it’s really cool. I’m pretty excited.”
Driscol knows she has a tough task ahead of her with Troy Mullins, Alexis Belton, and Phillis Meti in the field, both of whom had good days on the grid.
“I mean, really only three girls hit it over 315,” said Driscol. “Phillis hit it 320. Catherine, who I luckily got in the match play to get here, had a 317. So, I was really nervous heading into her, but Troy, Troy is bombing it and she had a lot of long balls. I’d say Troy’s definitely going to be a challenge if I get to hit against her, and then Phillis is always a challenge.”
Meti is coming off her second win of the 2019 season at the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bash, and is looking to carry that momentum through Rochester and Kingsport, Tenn., into the Championship.
“Every step is really important from here on out,” said Meti. “We’re on the business side of this tour season, and right now I’m just looking forward to hitting my first ball in the semi finals. I’m not really looking too much farther forward. I feel great. I think the six weeks off was a good thing for me to recoup and just get back to narrowing my direction or kind of pinpointing where I really need hit in order to carry on the momentum that started at the beginning of the season.”
Meti also had high praise for the competition this week.
“We’ve had a good field at this event. The semi finals were won by one and two yards, so, I think all of the girls are super fierce and they’re just hungry for a trophy, but so am I. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes in the afternoon.”
