The Bluff City Shootout marks the fourth stop of the year for Volvik World Long Drive Championship qualifying. Fresh faces were rampant up and down the range on Thursday, all hoping to secure one of three exemptions into the Championship in September that were up for grabs on Day 1 in Memphis.
By late afternoon, heavy hitters Ian Griscom, Zach Sizemore, and Andrew Herbert were left standing to snag the coveted spots and punch their ticket to the Oklahoma / Texas border later this year.
The elements played a factor particularly in the morning, as the rain and wind made it difficult for competitors to produce big numbers.
“Tough conditions all day,” said Griscom. “Wind straight in the face but we battled it out.”
Three additional qualifying spots will be handed out on Friday, with preliminary qualifying getting underway at 9 a.m. ET.
